Suggestions for Dressing for your Family Portrait

Choose similar colours for the entire group. Sometimes colours can clash and there is more likelihood of this occurring if everyone is wearing something completely different.

Stay away from wild colours and patterns as these can be distracting. When people look at the photo you want the first thing they see to be your smiling faces and not the striped multi coloured polka dotted top that one person is wearing.

Pick a standard safe colour that your whole family will be comfortable wearing. The more comfortable you are the more relaxed and natural you will all look. Suggested colours are blues, greens, mild purples and reds.

In a group portrait the faces should be what catches the eye. For this reason long sleeves and skirts or slacks work well.
